Simply Cats Adoption Center in Boise takes in cats that people do not want or strays. They provide a good environment for the cats to live until a suitable home can be found for them. Once the cats are evaluated and receive any medical treatment necessary they are put in a cage less environment for adoption. All cats are spayed or neutered prior to being adopted. Simply Cats does not euthanize for overcrowding. Simply Cats is a not-for-profit organization.
We got involved with Simply Cats when we moved to where we live now. When we moved here in late 1998 we did not have any pets. We live out of town in the farm land. One day this scrounge looking cat showed up. It looked like it was starving to death. I felt sorry for it and started feeding it scraps. You could not even get close to it. I broke down and bought some cat food to feed her. I do not know if you can imagine this cat, she had the worst mix of colors you can imagine, her fur was in pretty bad shape, and the hair in the middle of her back stood straight up. Because of her looks she got named Scrounge. (I wish we would of taken a picture of her.) My wife got pretty attached to her. She never had a pet growing up. The day my wife's aunt passed away the cat started letting her pet her.
I think people dump cats out here. Another gray and white cat showed up and she had two kittens. She is still with us and we just call her Mom. One of her two kittens is still with us also. Scrounge had 3 kittens and that's when I started telling my wife you need to make arrangements to get these cats spayed and neutered if you want to keep them.
We ended up having a kitten explosion as more feral cats showed up. At one time there was over twenty cats and kittens running around here. We got in touch with Simply Cats and they helped arrange to get the cats and kittens spayed and neutered. It ended up costing us very little with their assistance. We had to trap a lot of them as they were pretty wild. Some of them we just brought them back home and turned loose. I built them a house to get out of the weather. Simply Cats provided us with a trap and some carriers to help get the job done. At one point in time they even offered to help us with food to feed the feral cats.
As the years have gone by cats have come and gone, but if they hang around very long they get trapped and spayed or neutered. Simply Cats has been very instrumental in assisting us in taking care of cats. As town has gotten closer, most of the feral cats have disappeared.
